Two suspects were arrested after being found in possession of abalone worth around R1 million in Cradock.
|||Port Elizabeth – Two suspects were arrested after being found in possession of abalone worth around R1 million in Cradock on Thursday, Eastern Cape police said.
Police spokeswoman Stefanie Smith said the suspects were found in possession of 67 bags of abalone.
“The Route Patrol members of Cradock were doing routine patrols when they spotted a vehicle which failed to stop at a stop street in Cradock. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and upon searching the police found 67 bags of abalone,” said Smith.
The suspects, both aged 30, are believed to have been en route to Johannesburg.
Smith said both men are facing charges of possession of abalone.
