A man who attempted a robbery in Durban’s Cato Manor area was shot dead by his intended victim.
|||Durban - A man who, with his accomplice, attempted to rob a another man in Durban’s Cato Manor area was shot dead by his intended victim on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said that two armed men had accosted another man walking along Bellair Road.
At gunpoint the suspect forced the lone man to lie face down on the pavement, but at that moment, their intended victim produced his weapon and shot one of his attackers twice in the head.
The other attacker fled the scene and police were called.
Police were called and the mortally wounded attacker was declared dead at the scene by paramedics from KwaZulu-Natal’s provincial Emergency Medical Service.
Zwane said an inquest docket had been opened and that police were looking for the second attacker.
