Private security company Marshall Security was alerted and reaction officers went to the M4 Ruth First Highway shortly before 11pm.
Marshall Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said when security officers approached the man he fled across the busy highway and disappeared into bush.
“On closer inspection of the abandoned shopping trolley, the body of a deceased female, approximately 30 years of age was discovered, having suffered fatal blunt force head injuries,” van Reenen said.
He said the victim had not yet been identified.
