A 47-year-old Bethelsdorp man was asleep when armed men kicked down the door of his home and shot him.
|||Port Elizabeth - Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder following a shooting in the city’s Northern Areas over the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that it was alleged that a 47-year old Zola Alexander was sleeping when gunmen kicked down the front door of his home in extension 36 in Bethelsdorp.
“Two men wearing balaclavas entered the room while others remained in the lounge. Shots were fired at Alexander and he died on the scene,” said Naidu.
The men took cigarettes and a small amount of cash from the house and fled.
Naidu said the motive for the murder was suspected to be robbery.
No arrests have been made.
