Three people died and two others were critically injured when two cars collided on the N14 between Randfontein and Ventersdorp.
|||Johannesburg – Three people died and two others were critically injured when two cars collided on the N14 between Randfontein and Ventersdorp on Friday, paramedics said.
“When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on [the] scene they found the badly damaged cars still on the road,” ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a Toyota, was trapped. Upon assessment by paramedics it was found that he had died of his injuries. Two women were found trapped in the second car. One had sustained fatal injuries and the other was in a critical condition.
“Two women, from the same vehicle, were found outside the car. It is understood that they were ejected. Sadly one of them sustained fatal injuries as well. The other was in a critical condition.”
The two critically injured patients were airlifted to hospital by the ER24 medical helicopter and a helicopter belonging to another private emergency service. The cause of the accident was unknown, and authorities were investigating, Bodasing said.
