A 32-year-old woman, who allegedly killed her one-year-old son by smothering him with a pillow, says she grew tired of having to beg for food for him.
|||Smithfield - A 32-year-old woman is in police custody in Greenfields, Smithfield after she allegedly killed her one-year-old son by smothering him with a pillow, Free State police said on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Yanga Ngcukana, said the incident happened in the early hours of Monday morning. “The suspect alleges she was tired of always asking for food for the child from the neighbours and she was not coping raising the child alone.”
Ngcukana said the woman had allegedly suffocated the child while he was asleep in bed with her. “She then informed her mother that the baby was not moving, who then called the police.
On further investigation it was discovered that the mother allegedly suffocated the child with a pillow.
The woman is expected to appear in court soon.
