|||Rustenburg - The police management in the North West on Wednesday welcomed the life imprisonment prison sentence handed down to a 23-year-old man found guilty of rape.
Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the man was sentenced at the Klerksdorp Regional Court on Monday for raping two women, aged 17 and 26, in November 2012 at Kanana near Orkney.
“The accused and his accomplice broke into a house and raped the first victim before robbing her of her cellphone, laptop and cash. They then fled the scene and met the second victim on her way home. They grabbed and dragged her to a vandalised house where they raped her.”
He said the second accused, who was still on trial, would appear in court on Friday.
