|||Cape Town - A fifty-year-old man from Gugulethu has been arrested for the rape of a girl in Philippi on Thursday.
According to police, the man who transports primary school children to and from school on a daily basis, is in custody facing rape charges.
He was arrested after police noticed his car parked on a gravel road in Philippi. When police approached, he attempted to flee.
Police spokesman FC Van Wyk said: “A minor girl from Crossroads was found with him in the vehicle and when questioned she told a female police official what he had done to her.
“Members arrested the 50-year-old male suspect on a charge of rape and he will appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Monday.”
