|||Pretoria - The City of Tshwane has fired 23 bus drivers after they embarked on an unprotected strike for the third time.
City of Tshwane spokesman Blessing Manale said all the 23 fired bus drivers were intimidating other workers and brought the Are Yeng Bus Service into disrepute.
“They were undermining the credibility of the the Are Yeng Bus Service. We have given them warnings and this time around we decided to fire them,” he said.
He said they had shut the drivers out of the Tshwane Bus Service premises to protect loyal staff from threats and intimidation.
On Sunday, the drivers were shocked to find gates closed at the Tshwane Bus Services.
The Tshwane Bus Service has become a joke because of endless strikes which happen almost every two or three months, inconveniencing thousands of workers who rely on the buses to commute to and from work.
