A 33-year-old man succumbed to fatal injuries after his car was hit by a train at the Lephalale Exxaro Crossing, ER24 paramedics said.
|||Lephalale - A 33-year-old man was killed after his car was hit by a train at the Lephalale Exxaro Crossing in Lephalale, ER24 said on Thursday.
ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said that paramedics were alerted of the incident on Wednesday night by the Community Police Forum (CPF).
“On arrival, paramedics found a light motor vehicle smashed up against the front of a large train. The driver of the light motor vehicle had been pulled from the vehicle by CPF members,” said Meiring.
“On assessment, paramedics found that the man had already succumbed to his fatal injuries. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead.”
Meiring said the train driver survived the crash without any injuries.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
