Gauteng police are investigating the death of an elderly woman whose body parts were removed, and another woman who was found on an open West Rand veld.
|||Johannesburg - Police are investigating the gruesome murders of two women over Easter.
One is of an elderly woman whose body parts were removed, while another woman was found dead in an open veld in the West Rand in early yesterday morning.
Both may have been raped.
According to provincial police spokesman Major Mack Mngomezulu, in Germiston, a 72-year-old woman was found dead at her home with her nose, ears and eyelashes cut off. Her son-in-law apparently returned home on Thursday afternoon to find her dead.Mngomezulu added there were no signs of forced entry into the house.
“What we can currently confirm is that her handbag and her two cellphones are missing,” he said.
In Honeydew the body of a woman was found off Hendrik Potgieter Road.
Police suspect she may have been coming home from work when the incident occurred. She was found by security guards patrolling in the area.
Mngomezulu said this woman was also half-naked and they suspect she may have been raped.
Police are investigating.
