A 28-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a 25-year-old man at a soccer match, Eastern Cape police said.
|||King William’s Town - A 28-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of a 25-year-old man at a soccer match, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.
“The murder took place on Friday... at about [4pm] at Ngadla village, Willowvale. Both the suspect and the deceased were at [a] soccer playing field when the crime took place,” Captain Jackson Manatha said.
“The suspect was seen by the witnesses [allegedly] pulling his bush knife and stabbing the deceased on his upper body. The motive for the murder was not known.”
Police were alerted about the murder and swiftly attended to the complaint. The suspect was found at the scene and arrested.
“The bush knife was confiscated from him. He has been charged with murder and will appear before the Willowvale Magistrate's Court on Monday. The deceased was identified as Mandisi Tshotyana, aged 25,” Manatha said.
