Five people have appeared in a Mthatha court in connection with an alleged mob attack which leaft a 23-year-old suspected hijacker dead.
|||Port Elizabeth – Five suspects will appear in the Mthatha Magistrate’s court on Tuesday on a charge of murder, Eastern Cape police said.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Dineo Koena, said that the suspects, aged between 25 and 30, were arrested following an alleged mob attack and subsequent murder of 23-year-old Wandile Makheba earlier this month.
Koena said that it was alleged that Makheba was accused by community members of hijacking a car in Zimbane Valley.
Koena added that he was allegedly beaten with “sjamboks” by community members and was left for dead in the street.
