|||Rustenburg – A 32-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape of a five-year-old girl, North west police said on Friday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the man was sentenced at the Atamelang Regional Court on Thursday.
He raped the girl on December 2, 2012, after he convinced her to go with him to his house. The girl’s parents had sent her to buy chips at a tuckshop.
“The minor went home holding her panty on her hand and told her parents what had transpired. The parents went to the police to lay a charge of rape and the suspect was arrested.”
